My photo challenge this week was "Sunrise" ... hmmm ... not my forte - getting up early. Especially when I knew there was not going to be a sunrise - the sun would come up, but there wouldn't be a "Sunrise" - we have had far too much rain in Sydney/NSW this year to hope for a sunrise. But, I found a location that wasn't too far from home that might offer a good opportunity. I had wanted to visit and photograph the shipwreck SS Ayrfield for a while. And to discover it was actually in Homebush was a bonus! So ... off I trotted this morning to find the wreck and photograph it at sunrise. There was no sun, but I was surprised to find how cool the wreck was!! So, in true "Photography location scouting" tradition, I had a wander around and found some cool spots around it. Nice spots for walking family photos. I had found last night there is place called "Brick Pit" just around the corner from here, which has an elevated circular walkway which looked pretty cool, so I thought while I was there, I would check it out. It is literally 3 minutes drives from the shipwreck. Its VERY high!! But really cool. Again, I could see kids walking shots there. I also found just on the outside of it, an awesome path with amazing trees either side. Looking at the area, Bicentennial Park is about a 5 minute drive from that location, so off I went to have a sticky beak. I had been here before, but hadn't really viewed it from a "photographer's" point of view before. I think I brought my kids here to play once. There are some nice spots! Would be even nicer if the sun came out ... which of course it did when I was driving home. Typical!! lol Have a little look around. If you like it, it would be a great place for family photos.
