I had seen photos of Hornby Lighthouse and tried to find it a few years ago, but my GPS didn't take me to the right spot. So I did a little more research and figured out how to get there.  What I didn't expect to find, was such stunning views on the way. I took my niece and nephew with me, as well as my father, and it was a stunning day (maybe a degree or two too hot, but we can't have everything).  From the beach, it is about a 900 metre walk to the actual lighthouse.  There are quite a few stairs and uneven ground, so it is NOT suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The first beach you come to is Camp Cove Beach.  It is really lovely, with a great outlook.  That alone would be a great shooting location.  We headed along the South Head Heritage Trail and came across Lady Bay Beach.  Umm ... tip for young players ... this is a nudist beach!  There were lots of "don't take photos" and "just keep looking ahead" to my young nephew!  I do think my poor niece was ... not prepared, lets put it that way (yes, had to explain it to her mother!).  So, we kept walking and past the lightkeeper's house, and there was the gorgeous red and white lighthouse, which has I think one of the best views in Sydney!  An amazing view to North Head and Manly, with views of the bridge and the city on the way.  The other thing we found were bunkers and remnants of old cannons which the kids thought were very cool.  Would be a fantastic day out for a family to have a photoshoot and picnic at this stunning location.  The walk is a little strenuous at times, so slightly cooler weather such as Spring or Autumn would be ideal.  If you are after something a little different, call me to book in your shoot!
