Branding Photography for Women Who Hate Having Their Photo Taken
Wendy’s worries …
“I've never liked having my photo taken, what I see in the camera is always different to how I see myself in my head. I am also very critical of myself and how I look.
Not that I give it too much thought on the daily, but when I see a picture of myself, the first thing I see is the excess weight and wrinkles, and I am forced to confront the real image of myself.
Before the session, I was worried about so many things. This was my first ever experience of having professional photos taken (apart from my wedding photos), and I was worried I would look awkward, staged and fake. I wasn't sure if the outfits I'd chosen would look good on camera and if I would even feel comfortable using the pictures of me on my website and socials.
The actual session …
The emails I received in the lead-up to the day helped me feel a little bit calmer on the day, but I was still really nervous.
I needn't have worried, though.
It was a really enjoyable experience, with lots of laughing and chatting. It honestly felt more like catching up with an old friend than having a photo shoot with someone I'd just met.
Kirri was amazing at putting me at ease, and even though the poses felt as awkward as all hell, when I saw the first few raw shots on the camera, I was in shock. I actually liked what I saw!
Wendy’s Reaction to the first raw shot on the back of the camera …
The result …
I was thrilled to review the images with Kirri and select which ones made the final cut. Again, I was surprised when it was difficult to cut down the number of images; there were so many that I liked, such a huge shift from when I booked.
Getting in front of the camera is much easier now. I wouldn't say I love it, but knowing how to stand and pose to get the best possible shot has definitely increased my confidence in getting in front of the camera.
The change …
I have used the branding portraits to create an email signature, update my website, and Instagram and Facebook avatars.
Instead of using my business logo, it is now my face!
As a healer and reader, people connect with my energy and to have an image of myself I love and feel represents me and my brand has helped my business grow and bring in new clients.
It has increased my confidence - I get so many compliments on the images, and I think it has helped to elevate my brand to be seen as professional and no just "woo-woo"!
From Kirri
Wendy’s story makes my heart smile. This is why I do what I do.
For a woman who really didn’t want to do the session because she didn’t like what she saw, to then become ok with getting in front of the camera and better yet, liking what she sees is just amazing.
And the chef’s kiss on top? She now feels her business looks more professional and it has helped her grow her business. I just love it!
Love, love, love. My heart is happy. Thanks Wendy.
