FAQs

Why choose professional photos over phone photos?

Cameras in our phones today are amazing and can capture your everyday memories and candid moments at any time. When it comes to images with purpose however, engaging a professional takes it to the next level. Not just about the camera technology, a professional photographer has extensive training and experience with lighting, image composition and posing. Professional photos can be enlarged for large scale printing, and a professional photographer provides post-shoot editing to give the images that wow factor without fake filters.

What should I do to prepare?

I’m glad you asked! Before the day, organise any hair and make-up appointments, ensuring you leave more time than you think you’ll need to get ready. Plan your outfits ahead of time, with multiple choices available. If you need a hand knowing what to wear, here’s a guide. When organising your schedule, leave down-time between everything, expect that something WILL go awry, and knowing you’ve got time up your sleeve will reduce any stress. Here are some tips to make the most of the day when it arrives, and what to bring.

How do I select the right photos for me?

We’ll chat before your shoot and discuss anything specific you’re looking for, and I’ll keep this in mind on the day. For family and couples shoots, we’ll catch up afterwards to go through the gallery together, so that I can ask you the right questions to help you narrow it down. Some things to consider will be where the images will be displayed, and do they fit with the décor? With corporate photos, typically I’ll have my screens with me on the day, and we can review the results and you can choose right away.

How do I choose a location?

The possibilities for amazing photo locations in Sydney are endless and can be overwhelming. I’ll work with you when you book to discover what will work best for your purpose. If you’ve got a location that’s special for you and your story, let me know and I’ll check it out and see how it can work. For family and couples shoots, I’ve got a bunch of Sydney locations up my sleeve, so have a look at these options which helps you choose.
Corporate photos can be at your location, showcase the area that you service or we can chat about locations to suit your brand personality and colours.

Shouldn’t I just get the whole lot?

No. In my years of experience, I’ve found that the more photos you end up with, the less likely you’ll ever use any of them. Especially if a lot of them are similar – which they will be. When you take the time to really think about what the purpose of the photos is and where they will be displayed, you’re much more likely to end up with a smaller gallery of amazing images that you’ll want to use. A hundred images in a folder on your computer are no good to you if it’s too overwhelming to go through them every time you want to use one.
