My Story

Growing up in a family of photography enthusiasts, I was surrounded by the art from an early age. My dad was an award-winning member of a camera club, while my mum ran a business restoring old photos using traditional methods. We even had a darkroom at home where I spent countless hours watching mum at work.

I got my first point-and-shoot camera at the age of 10, but my passion for photography truly ignited after reading "Where the Heart Is." Inspired by the story of a girl discovering her love for photography, I began to explore new angles and unique perspectives in my own work.

My journey into professional photography started with shooting weddings and capturing special moments for friends. In 2008, I landed a job at Footprints Nursery, where I photographed up to eight newborns a day, and took over editing.

Eventually, I offered to buy the Footprints business. The current owner wasn’t looking to sell at the time, so I made an offer on another similar business. Shortly after, she came back to me to let me know she would sell to me – so I bought both businesses! A few crazy busy years later, I had a thriving photography business with 14 staff and exclusive contracts with four hospitals.

After a couple of significant personal setbacks, I wound that business down to focus on family during a rough time. But, since I’m not great at doing nothing, Captured by Kirri was born. Wanting to move away from newborn shoots, I found a love for outdoor family shoots and spent some time mastering boudoir photography and learning how to pose women to show them just how beautiful they are.

Fast forward to today, I focus on photographing the things I enjoy, families, couples, and amazing businesses. I've created a versatile home studio, with spaces dedicated to both light and dark themes. I adore shooting in natural sunlight but also find magic in the dark, creating dreamy, atmospheric images.

Throughout my journey, I've found immense joy in making connections with clients and helping them see their own beauty. I've written an eBook on posing for women, so they can confidently be in photos with their kids. My mission is to create stunning images that families can cherish and display in their homes, reminding them of the love they share.
