How to make the most out of your branding session …

Booking a branding session is such an exciting step — it’s not just about headshots; it’s about telling your story and showing up confidently for your brand.

You’ve invested time, money, and trust into this experience, and I want you to walk away not only with images you love but with memories of a session that felt empowering and fun.

Here’s how to set yourself up for success:

Things Not to Do on Shoot Day

✖️ Don’t Treat the Shoot Like "Just Another Task"

Branding portraits aren't something you do every day. Prioritise the session — clear your schedule around it as much as possible. You want to walk in feeling calm, prepared, and focused on you — not thinking about emails, errands, or meetings.

✖️ Don’t Skip Meals

Make sure you eat beforehand! Low blood sugar = low energy (and sometimes a bit of grumpiness). You’ll look and feel so much better if you’re nourished and hydrated before we start.

✖️ Don’t Try to Squeeze Too Much In Beforehand

Avoid booking meetings, running errands, or stressing yourself out before the shoot. Give yourself time to get ready properly — without rushing — so you arrive feeling polished and confident.

✖️ Don’t Schedule Something Immediately After

We want the session to feel relaxed and enjoyable, not rushed. Leave space after the shoot so you can enjoy the experience fully without constantly watching the clock.

✖️ Don’t Overthink or Panic About Every Little Detail

I guide you through posing, styling, and expressions — you don't have to be a professional model! Your job is to show up, trust the process, and let me bring out your best.

Things To Do on Shoot Day

✔️ Prioritise Self-Care in the Morning

Treat the day like a special event. Sleep well, eat a good breakfast, stay hydrated, and leave extra time for getting ready.

✔️ Get Professional Hair and Makeup

Professional hair and makeup really does make a difference — both in how you look and how you feel. If you're booking hair and makeup, allow plenty of time beforehand so you're not feeling rushed.

Bonus Tip: Have a trial session if you can, so you know you’ll love the final look.

✔️ Overestimate How Long It Will Take You to Get Ready

Clothing, hair, makeup, last-minute outfit changes... Getting ready always takes longer than you think. Allow for extra time so you're calm when you walk into the studio, not flustered.

✔️ Bring a Few Outfit Options

Even if you feel sure about your choices, bring a few extras! Sometimes what you think you’ll love looks different on camera. Having a few options means we can mix and match for variety and choose what flatters you most.

✔️ Practice Smiling and Posing (Just a Little!)

You don't need to "practice modeling," but spending a few minutes in the mirror getting comfortable smiling, standing tall, and finding a natural hand placement can boost your confidence hugely. See if you can figure out your preferred side of your face! I only just recently realised mine … and it was the opposite to what I though!

✔️ Have an idea as to the shots you want (and share them with me before hand)

Create a pintrest board, have a look at ideas for your industry, think about the props you will need to bring. Preparation means you will achieve the portraits you need for your business, rather than having to do the shoot again sooner!

Your session isn’t about achieving perfection — it's about showing up as your real, brilliant, amazing self. I’ll guide you through everything. You just need to breathe, relax, and let your true personality shine.

Remember … Your branding session is about you — celebrating where you are, where you’re going, and the incredible story you have to tell.

Prioritise the experience, enjoy the process, and give yourself permission to show up fully. The images we create together will be a reflection of all the work you've put into becoming who you are today — and who you're becoming next.

I can’t wait to show you just how beautiful you are …. as you are!
